Maremma Toscana Rosso DOC, Tenuta di Casteani | 2008 70% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot. £15-29.99. Smoky bacon oak, and a bit of funk, firm oak and fruit tannins well played off against each other, firm and focussed, still youthful but starting to open. 17 Points. Silver at DWWA 3rd May 2013.

Maremma Toscana Rosso, Sessanta | 2009 80% Sangiovese,  20% Alicante Bouschet. £15-29.99. Open knit, plenty of evolution plus some stinky flavours, tannins a little broad for the fruit on offer so lacks a bit of balance/elegance. 15 Points. Silver at DWWA 3rd May 2013.
