Sarah Jane Evans MW has been a Member of the Institute of Masters of Wine since 1986. Evans held the role of Chair of the Institute of Masters of Wine from 2014-2016. A journalist and author (see Wine writers, journalists), Evans began writing about wine, food (including chocolate), and restaurants in the 1980s. Her love of sherry led to her interest in all things Spanish and her Master of Wine dissertation on Sherry was awarded the Robert Mondavi Winery Award. She is also Co-Chairman, Decanter World Wine Awards.

Education: Sarah Jane studied classics and social and political science at Cambridge University.
