The Ruhr is an important river in western Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia), a right tributary (east-side) of the Rhine. It flows through a major industrial region that shares its name (Ruhr region). The river is 146 miles (235 km) lon. It is not to be confused with Germany’s Ruwer river and region.
