ROMANGIA IGT covers white, red, rosé, passito, overripe and novello wines from the municipalities of Castelsardo, Osilo, Sennori, Sorso and Valledoria in the province of Sassari on the Italian island of Sardinia (‘Sardegna’). In the 12th and 13th centuries the area had a thriving economy linked to wine, with rules governing wine production tailored according to the precise area of vine cultivation. In the area of the “Pedraia”, in the township (‘comune’) of Sorso, archaeologists have found an area used for winemaking dug into the limestone with the date 1602 engraved on a pillar.
