Podere Terreno is a winery in Radda-in-Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy. Not to be confused with the Terreno winery in Greve in Chianti.

Owner: Marie-Sylvie Haniez. Her son is Pierfrancesco Rapisarda. The first estate bottled wines here were from the 2004 vintage.

Background: Podere Terreno was registered in 1427 in the Republic of Florence’s housing list. Documents in the archives of the Ospedale degli Innocenti dated 16th April 1465 list “a farm with house for workers in Volpaia – people of San Lorenzo called terreno”.

Vineyards:  52ha of land of which 6ha is vineyard. 450 metres.

Organic certification2002 (2005?) First vintage with full organic certification.

Biodiversity: There are two ponds fed by a spring containing carp, black bass, trout and frogs.

Red wines

Chianti Classico DOCG, Podere Terreno: 2004 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. Steel. Aged in botti di rovere.

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Podere Terreno2004 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. Fermented in French oak botti, aged in 500-litre French oak casks.

IGT Toscana Rosso, Pierfrancesco2004 90% Sangiovese Grosso, 10% Cabernet. Fermented in French oak botti, aged barriques.

Other activities: Agritourism. Converted house with chestnut beams. Guestrooms (doubles and singles) are en suite, with furniture from the 1940s to 1960s.
