Podere San Giacomo is an estate winery in Località Loc. Val di Cava in Montalcino in Tuscany, Italy. Its main wines are Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.

Background: The estate was created in 1993 by Claudio Nardi and Graziella Pieri. Claudio and Graziella’s daughter, Elena Nardi, deals with sales and helps her parents in both cellar and vineyard, together with her grandfather Bruno Nardi [who is from the same family as Tenuta Silvio Nardi, which developed agricultural machinery].

Staff: Oenologist: Piero Rivella (brother of Ezio) from 2003-2014. Now Michele Turchi (does the analyses).

Estate vineyards: The vines are on two sites

– In 1993 they bought land at Loc. Le Misericordi in Castelnuovo dell’Abate. The soil is very stony. They started planting vines here in 1998.

– In 1995 another 8.5ha of land was purchased north-west of Montalcino at Località Collodi (where the soil is rich in clay) or Località Val di Cava, along the SP del Brunello at Km. 5,5. This is near Altesino and the Cantina di Montalcino north west of the town, a cooler area. Almost 300 meters. There are 5ha of vines (all for Brunello which they planted) and 2ha of arable crops (seminativo).
