Piemaggio is a winery in Castellina in Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany. The wines are bottled under the Le Fioraie brand, Le Fioraie being the name of the locality in Castellina in which Piemaggio’s vines are found. A Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT red is also made.

Vineyards: 12ha in a single spot. 350-480 metres. Soils: Galestro and alberese.

Red wines

Chianti Classico DOCG, Le Fioraie: From vines at 420 in an area called Le Fioraie. | 2015 90% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino, 5% Canaiolo nero, Ciliegiolo. Fermented in stainless steel. Racked to concrete tanks. Aged for 18 months in a mix of concrete, 25hl large oak vats grandi, and 500-litre tonneaux. Lovely soft, clear fruit (Anteprima 2019).

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Le Fioraie: Aged for 36 months in a mix of concrete, 25hl botti grandi, and 500-litre tonneaux. | 2012 90% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino, Canaiolo nero, Ciliegiolo. Deep, dark ripe fruit, ripe but just about not overblown (Anteprima 2019). | 2013 Ripe, maybe a tad overly ripe, but definitely old viney, with 20 years average vine age (Anteprima 2019). 

Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT, Piemaggio2008 90% Sangiovese, 10% Colorino and Canaiolo.
