Pian delle Querci is an estate winery in Località Pian delle Querci in the Montalcino region in Tuscany, Italy. Its makes wines under the Sant’Antimo DOC,  Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.

Vineyards: 8.5ha of vines of which 6ha of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, 2ha of Rosso di Montalcino and 0.5ha of Sant’Antimo DOC.

Viticulture: Weeds are removed by ploughing (herbicides are not used). Organic matter rather than soluble fertilizers are used for fertility.

Winemaking: 100% hand picked. Ferment in steel.

Markets: Canada, Norway, Japan and NY.

Rosso di Montalcino DOC2012 15,000 bottles. €4.50 ex cellars. Sweet middle, light, bit simple and primary (Benvenuto Brunello 2014). | 2013 14,900 bottles. Hand. Steel. 6 months in 50hl botti. Light, primary style, simple (Benvenuto Brunello 2015). | 2014 Simple, fairly clean (Benvenuto Brunello Feb 2016).

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG: 2009 38,000 bottles. Bit simple and thin (Benvenuto Brunello 2014). | 2010 38,000 bottles. | 2011 Simple, fluid, a bit stemmy maybe, OK if a bit simple (Benvenuto Brunello 2015). | 2011 Bright ruby garnet, mid-weight, fluid red cherry, simple tannin, drinkable, a hint of funk (Benvenuto Brunello 2016). | 2012Attenuated (Benvenuto Brunello 2017).

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva: 2008 12,000 bottles. Vat and botti. Moderate depth but essentially light, easy, simple (Benvenuto Brunello 2014). | 2008 L147. Bit grubby, mix of over-ripe and under-ripe, blurred, but clearly has good weight and rich tannins, spoiled by the winemaking (Nov 2016). | 2010 Simple, fluid, a bit stemmy, simple (Benvenuto Brunello 2015). | 2011 Simple red cherry fruit, primary, fluid, digestible, anonymous (Benvenuto Brunello 2016).
