Petit Rouge is a key red wine grape in the Valle d’Aosta region in its native Italy. It is one of the main red varieties of Valle d’Aosta, and is related to most of that region’s other red varieties. In particular, Petit Rouge is a parent of Vien de Nus and a sibling of Fumin.

The name: Petit Rouge translates from the French as ‘little red one’.

Wines: Valle d’Aosta: Valle d’Aosta DOC. It is the primary grape of the red wines of the Torrette subzone of in the middle of the valley.

Wine style: In Valle d’Aosta both monovarietal and blended examples of this medium bodied and fruity, dry, still red can be found. Torrette is a cru where Petit Rouge can produce wines of particular finesse and depth.
