PAOLO BASSO, a Swiss-Italian, started his wine career as a Sommelier in Switzerland, followed by gaining professional experience with a leading Swiss-based fine and rare wines trader, where he focused on the wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux. Paulo runs his own wine consultancy company, Ceresio Vini. He has won many awards, including Best Sommelier of Switzerland 1997 and Best Sommelier of Europe 2010. In addition, Paolo has also been the runner-up in the World’s Best Sommelier competition three times – in 2000, 2007 and 2010. Paolo won the title of Best Sommelier of the World 2013. See sommeliers.
