North Yuba AVA is an American Viticultural Area, a sub-region of Sierra Foothills AVA in the state of California. The AVA was granted in 1985. It is fairly small at only 30 square miles (77.7 square kms). It includes the area from Oregon House east of Rice Crossing Road to roughly Dobbins just west of the Yuba River in Yuba County in the hills above Sacramento Valley, on a latitude with Clear Lake, so well north of gold country. It is known for its mineral rich loamy clay soils, warm days, cool nights and an average annual rainfall average of 129.5cm (51 inches). The AVA is located entirely within the Sierra Foothills AVA, at its most northerly edge. One winery is added to the AVA despite being across the street from its western border.
