Nicolas (‘Nick’) Belfrage MW is a Member of the Institute of Masters of Wine and works as a wine writer and wine merchant. He was born in Los Angeles, raised in New York and England. He studied in Paris, Siena and London, taking a degree at University College London in French and Italian. He became a Master of Wine in 1980. He began working in and writing on Italian wine in the early 1970s. In 1994 he sold his specialist Italian wine-importing business (Winecellars in London) and moved to Tuscany.
