Nature et Progrès is France’s oldest organic agriculture association. It was officially founded on 14th March 1964 to formulate, develop, promote and regulate what is now known as organic farming. Founding members included Paul Bouron (father of Daniel Bouron) from Château de Chavrignac in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux, and Pierre Barron (d.2011) father of François Barron of Château Méric & Chante L’Oiseau in the Graves AOC of Bordeaux. Other co-founders were M Villié, Marcel Verbruggen, M Rouillon, M Badie and Sr Lo Pozzer (Italy).

Nature et Progrès was at the forefront in creating the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM.
