Moris Farms is located in località Curanuova in Monteregio di Massa MarittimaGrosseto Province, in coastal south-west Tuscany. It makes Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC and Morellino di Scanano DOCG wines.

Owner: Moris family (three brothers and three sisters). Adolfo Parentini and Caterina Moris. Moris is Spanish in origin, recalling says the Moorish incursions of the C17th. The Family crest shows a dark-skinned Moor holding the head of a pale-skinned Christian, recalling the earlier wars and origins on the name.

Staff:Oen Consultant: Attilio Pagli. |  Manager: Adolfo Parentini (married a Moris).  Sales: Giulio Parentini (348.4116387)

Background: The property had belonged to Adolfo Parentini’s wife’s family since the C18th. There had originally been 6,000 hectares, but now after land divisions there are 320 ha including 100 ha of woods. Also olive groves, wheat, animals (a domesticated herd of wild boar), and 40-ha of vineyards here. AAdolfo Parentini’s father-in-law was the first to  plant vines, first to sell the grapes, then to make wine in bulk. Adolfo Parentini then hired Pagli to sell wine in bottle.

Vineyards: Monteregio di Massa Marittima: great south facing slope, which you can see from the Aurelia. The approach has a longer alleyway of cypresses than San Guido in Bolgheri, as Adolfo Parentini’s father-in-law planted 3,600 trees in 1937. C18th house with a winery adjoining. The ‘Avvoltore’ vineyard above the Aurelia was planted in 1990. Sangiovese plus some Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah too. In Scansano there is 30 ha of vines, mainly Sangiovese plus 1-ha each of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot; Loc. Poggio La Mozza in Scansano commune, 30 mins from Scansano
