Red wines

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Nicole: A joint-venture with the Fattoria Viticcio winery in Greve-in-Chianti, in the Chianti Classico DOCG. Viticcio’s website (Dec 2013) “Nicale is a 100% Sangiovese varietal vinified and aged in wood in accordance with our guidelines. The commercial side is handled by Molino di Sant’Antimo.”

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Paolvs (sic): 2009 L13.293. 14%. Bright light garnet all the way across. Some cork flakes/dust in there too. Not much nose: ripe cedar and ripe red plums but all rather faint. Very sweet entry, with cedary-plum fruit, then a dry element from extracted fruit tannins then a more appealing layer of over-ripeness and savouriness, followed by a warm, shortish finish at the Consorzio Tues 27th May 2014 with Ian d’Agata and others.
