Martina Franca is an attractive town in Taranto province in the Puglia region of Italy. It derives its name from the Colle di San Martino (on which it stands)  and the franchises (franchigie) granted by Filippo d’Angelo to those looking to settle here in the early 14th century.

Tourism: Within the town walls are Baroque buildings (Palazzo Ducale, the collegiate Church of San Martino). There is also a museum dedicated to the ‘trulli‘ found around the Val d’Itria or Itria valley.
