Marino DOC is located in the Lazio region of central west Italy and was created in 1970.

Terroir: The vineyards occupy the western edge of the Alban Hills, south of Rome, and next to the town of Marino. Lying just to the south of Frascati but usually on lower lying, west facing slopes. Marino’s location in the western sector of the Castelli Romani should give slightly more body (12.5% is needed for superiore for example) although yields of around 100 hl/ha mitigate against this.

Vineyard area: 1990s: 1,000 ha in the late 1990s (OWC, p.142)

Main grapes: Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc have arrived.
