Maiolati Spontini is a town in Ancona province in the Le Marche region on the Adriatic coast of Italy. It is located 22 miles (35km) southwest of the port city of Ancona, on the southern shoulder of the Esino valley, and lies on the right or south bank of the Esino river. Spontini was added to Maiolati, its original name, and honours musician Gaspare Spontini who was born here. Wines can be made under the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC Superiore denomination.

Terroir: Maiolati Spontini borders the following municipalities: Belvedere Ostrense, Castellbellino, Casteplanio, Cupramontana, Jesi, Monte Roberto, Tosora, San Marcello. The soil is characterised by being very deep, medium‐calcareous clay loams.
