Les Terres de Fagayra is a Biodynamic estate in the Roussillon region of France.

Owners: Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet.

Background: Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet already owned the Roc des Anges estate (which see) and in 2008 they bought a (3 hectare) vineyard in Maury specifically to make fortified wines.

Certification: 2014 First vintage with full organic certification. 2017 First vintage with full Biodynamic (SIVCBD ‘Biodyvin’) certification.

Wines

Maury Blanc AOC, Fagayra Blanc: Schist and limestone soils. | 2014 ‘Grenache Gris and Blanc, with some Macabeo and a little Carignan blanc, which should not be in there, but never mind. Initially picked separately, but now all picked together, depending on the ripening of the earliest variety. Fermented in vat – no wood. 108 gms/l residual sugar. Peachy nose and more pineapples on the palate,’ (Rosemary George MW: 22 Feb 2016). | 2014 Nice clear fluid sweetness (Millésime Bio 2016). | 2014 Quite sweet, but clear & even a bit modernist (Real Wine Fair 2016).

Maury Rouge AOC, Fagayra Rouge: Old vine Grenache Noir grown on schist with limestone sediments. | 2008 DWild yeast ferment. Muté sur grains. Aged in stainless steel for seven months and a further four in bottle. 2,400 bottles. | 2014 Lovely clear fruit, well made (Millésme Bio 2016). | 2014 Well polished, plump and clean (Real Wine Fair 2016).

Maury Rouge, Op. Nord. [sic]: Grenache Noir and Carignan on schist. 2008 1,200 bottles. | 2009 7months in concrete. | 2013

Maury Grenat, Op Nord: 2013 ‘Grenache with 5–15% Carignan depending on the vintage (Rosemary George MW: 22 Feb 2016).
