La Combàrbia is an estate winery in the Montepulciano region of Tuscany, Italy. La Combàrbia was created in the 1960 by Novillo Mariani when he settled in Cervognano, a locality within the commune of Montepulciano. On cadastral maps the name given to the area is Villa Elvira. Mariani was the first of his family to have an interest wine. He was succeeded by his nephew Gabriele Florio who took over the company in 2016. Gabriele modified the cellar (or he moved the cellar to a new location) and began selling the wines in bottle. La Combàrbia produces Rosso di Montepulciano DOC and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG.

The name: The term Combàrbia means a “crossroads”, but in local parlance ‘combàrbia’ means to go spend an evening chatting over a glass of wine.

Red wines

Rosso di Montepulciano DOC: 2017 80% Sangiovese, 20% Mammolo and Canaiolo Nero. Fermented in stainless steel. Bright modern yeast-derived red fruit (Anteprima 2020).

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG: 2016 Debut. 100% Sangiovese. Fermented in concrete tanks. 18m in 30hl oak. | 2017 14.5% alc, hot vintage. A bit angular (Anteprima 2020).

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Riserva: 2016 Debut. 100% Sangiovese. A selection of the best lots. | 2019 Produced.
