Jaén | Region in eastern Andalucia, Spain, said to be a crossroads between southern and central Spain. Olive oil is the region’s dominant agricultural crop, and Jaen is one among the world’s biggest olive oil producing regions.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites | The cities of Ubeda and Baeza have UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Both have Renaissance era architecture. Jaén also has 400 medieval castles, a legacy of the Iberians.
National parks | The Jaén region has four national parks of which the most famous is the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas. This is the largest environmentally protected place in Spain (golden eagles, bearded vultures). Other parks include the Sierra Magina, Despenaperros, and Sierra de Andujar.
