Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, Il Faggeto:
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, Pietra del Diavolo: The name means Devil’s Stone, alluding to the stone taken from ‘il faggeto’ (‘beech wood’ or forest) centuries ago to construct the church of St Agnes. Said stone was ‘hardened’ by the Devil who, quite understandably, was keen to prevent the church’s construction. | 1999 Bottled. | 2002 90% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese), 5% each Canaiolo and Mammolo. Boldish modern colour, smoky toasty new French oak and very light fruit underneath the coffee at the consorzio on Tuesday 8th March 2005.
