Il Barlettaio is an organic estate winery in Radda-in-Chianti in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy.

Owner: Francesco Bertozzi and his wife Paola. Francesco renovates farmhouses and farms eg. for agritourism. Via his mother’s side of the family, the Minucci, there were thirty farm landholdings, all of which were sold off gradually, leaving only Il Barlettaio. Francesco built his winery here in 1995. There are 4 labels (not all are produced in each vintage): a Chianti Classico, a Chianti Classico Riserva and two IGTs, one based on Merlot and one Sangiovese.

Staff: Luca D’Attoma has consulted from 2001.

Vineyards: 7 hectares of land in total. 3 hectares of vines (10,000 bottles). Soil: galestro and alberese. Rocky clay. 

Polyculture: 150 olive trees.

Organic certification2012 First vintage with full organic certification.

Red wines

Chianti Classico DOCG, Barlettaio: 2013 100% Sangiovese. | 2014 100% Sangiovese. 24 months in large wooden vats. Crisp, some citric notes (Anteprima 2018).

Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Barlettaio2011 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot. 18m in barrel. Crisp, round traditional style Chianti Classico with a bit of wildness (Anteprima 2018). 5,000 bottles. 14,5% alc.

IGT Toscana Rosso, Barlettaio2012 100% Merlot.
