Gumpoldskirchen is a wine town in the district of Mödling in Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) in Austria, one of the nine states of the Austrian federation. Gumpoldskirchen borders on the municipalities of Mödling, Guntramsdorf, Gaaden, Pfaffstätten and Traiskirchen. The municipal area extends from the flats in the Vienna Basin to forest areas of the Anninger in the Vienna Woods. Gumpoldskirchen’s vineyards now fall within the Thermenregion district. The origins of winemaking in the Thermenregion date to around 900 AD after Gumpold, Bishop of Passau in Upper Bavaria endowed what became “Gumpold’s Church” or Gumpoldskirchen, with wine a source of income.

Wines: Gumpoldskirchen is known for muscular whites made from Zierfandler (or Spätrot) and Rotgipfler.
