Fattoria di Grignano is an organic estate in Pontassieve, Tuscany. It produces Chianti Rufina DOCG red wines plus a Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina DOC. The villa was built by the Marchese Gondi in the 15th-centuary.

Owner: Inghirami family since 1972. The family name is well known in the fashion industry.

Vineyards: Located east of Florence, on the first foothills of the Tuscan-Emiliana Apennines, at the confluence of the Sieve and Arno rivers. Near Fattoria Selvapiana. The extensive estate comprises 1,600ha of land divided into 47 poderi or individual farms (fruit, olives, vines, cereal crops). Fattoria di Grignano now also incorporates Fattoria di Pievevecchia. 49.5 ha of vines producing 250 thousand bottles (Gambero Rosso 2015, p.595).

Chianti Rufina DOCG, Fattoria di Grignano Ritratto: 2018 14.5% alc. A well made, well balanced Rufina whose dark red fruit shows lovely brightness and balance and with a really mouthwatering tang to it. It has plenty of depth but is not at all heavy (27 August 2021).

Chianti Rufina DOCG Riserva, Fattoria di Grignano: 2000 13.5% alc. Dark fruit notes not dissimilar to the Montepulciano grape. Tasted with Alfredo Masseti (July 2021).

Chianti Rufina DOCG Riserva Fattoria di Grignano Poggio Gualtieri2018 100% Sangiovese. From a south-east-facing  vineyard of 1.77ha called Vigneto Poggio Gualtieri. From a south-east-facing vineyard of 1.77ha called Vigneto Poggio Gualtieri. 3,300-5,000 vines/ha. Cordon training. 300-350 metres asl. Claylimestone. .80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo nero, 10% other red grapes. | 1998 Bottled. | 2012 Bright fruit although this is a bit confected and extracted with a dose of vanilla, a bit made. No award (DWWA 2016). | 2016 alc.13.5% alc. Robustly dark crimson robe. The nose is quite closed but it certainly conveys a sense of richness and denseness which is reflected on the palate. The fruit was initially slightly lozenge-like. But after 24 hours of exposure to air almost everything fell into place (12 Aug 2021). | 2018: 100% Sangiovese. Matured for 30 months between both stainless steel vats and barriques. 600 bottles.

 Salicaria: 2009 Sangiovese and Merlot (roughly half each).
