Domaine Lafage is an estate in Perpignan in the Roussillon region of France. The estate had two very different terroirs in two different areas (see below) and so both dry red Côtes du Roussillon AOC and sweet Rivesaltes AOC white wines are made.
Owner: Eliane Lafage and her husband Jean-Marc Lafage. Eliane has worked with Gallo in California, Brokenwood in Australia and Viña Santa Rita in Chile, amongst others.
Estate Vineyards: 250 hectares of land in total. The vines are located in two places. The vineyards near Maury are near the winery. Other vineyards in Canet-en-Roussillon nearer the sea produce white and rosé wines. This site is influenced in summer by a humid, cooling maritime wind called ‘la Marinade’. The difference in temperature between the coast and Maury can be as much as 50°C.
