Contea di Sclafani DOC is a wine region in western Sicily (‘Sicilia’). The production zone falls across the three provinces of Palermo, Caltanissetta and Agrigento. The DOC dates from 1996 and covers both white and red wines. Revisions from 2017 onwards created a slimmed-down menu of both permitted grapes and wine styles (Rosato and sparkling styles were abandoned).

Production zone: In the Province of Palermo the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Valledolmo, Caltavuturo, Alia and Sclafani Bagni; part of the territory of the municipalities of Petralia Sottana, Castellana Sicula, Castronovo di Sicilia, Cerda, Aliminusa, Montemmagiore Belsito and Polizzi Generosa. In the Province of Caltanissetta: the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Vallelunga Pratameno and Villalba. In the Province of Agrigento: part of the territory of the municipality of Cammarata.

Contea di Sclafani DOC Rosso: 0-100% Nero d’Avola and or Perricone in any combination.

Contea di Sclafani DOC Rosso Riserva: 0-100% Nero d’Avola and or Perricone in any combination.

Contea di Sclafani DOC Vendemmia Tardiva Bianco: 95-100% Cataratto,, 0-5% permitted white grapes.

Contea di Sclafani DOC Vendemmia Tardiva Rosso: 0-100% Nero d’Avola and or Perricone in any combination.
