Azienda Agricola Concadoro is an organic estate winery in Località Concadoro in Castellina in Chianti in Siena Province, in the south western part of the Chianti Classico DOCG in Tuscany. Chianti Classico red wines are made, as is a Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC.

Background: Concadoro dates to the 1600s, when it served as a resting place for the shepherds heading towards the Casentino Valley from the Maremma. At the time the farm was called “Le Capraie” after the goats who would overnight here, and their goatheards who would leave some milk by way of payment. In 1878 the villa was built. In 1960 the farm was bought by the Commendatore Luigi Cerasi who was from Rome and he gave it its current name of “Azienda Agricola Concadoro” (not to be confused with the Concadoro sub-zone of Panzano-in-Chianti).

Owner: Benito Torricelli. In the mid-2000s the main markets were Germany, Austria and Switzerland and also Demark. Very little to the USA.

Staff: Adriano Cerasi (manager) and Marco Chellini (vineyards).

Vineyards: 100 hectares of land in total, including olives and woodland as well as 20 hectares of vines. Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, Malvasia. On alberese soil. The main rootstock is 420A. Mainly cordon and some guyot and ‘archetto toscano’. Use organic sheep manure for compost.

Certification: 1989 Joins Coordinamento Toscano Produttori Biologici (CTPB). | 1990 First vintage with full organic certification. | 2007 Still certified organic.

Winery: Cement tanks.
