COMANDO G VITICULTORES is a partnership between oenologist Fernando García Alonso and Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi (Daniel Landi for short) in the Sierra de Gredos in Castilla y Leon in their native Spain. 2008 was their first vintage. Another fellow winemaking student, Marc Isart, was also involved but family and work commitments saw him leave the project.

BACKGROUND / Daniel and Fernando met in 2004 when they studied viticulture together at Madrid’s Polytechnic University. Daniel was already involved in his family’s winery, Jiménez-Landi in the Méntrida DO. In 2011 Daniel left the family winery to focus on both his own personal project Daniel Landi Viticultor, and on Comando G. Fernando worked in Madrid as a sommelier for a year after having graduated, then did two harvests for Compania de Telmo Rodriguez as an oenologist. In 2008 he became winemaker at Bodegas Marañones. In 2008 Daniel and Fernando started Comando G Viticultores, initially as a side-project from Jiménez-Landi and Marañones. The idea was to focus on old vine Garnacha (Grenache) vines, hence the ‘G’ in Comando G, with a focus on the isolated and higher altitude Sierra de Gredos region, between the provinces of Madrid and Ávila. From 2011 the project became more serious and Comando G became a full time activity for both partners.
