Château Paveil de Luze is located in Soussans-Margaux on the left bank of the Bordeaux region.
Owner: The de Luze family (of Swiss extraction) acquired the estate in 1862.
Classification: 1932: Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Exceptionnel. | 1978: Cru Grand Bourgeois
Vineyards: In 1862 when the de Luze family bought the estate parcels of vines were scattered across Soussans, Arcins, Avensan and Moulis. Now Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Cabernet Franc (5%), and Merlot (30%) are confined to the western part of Soussans, towards Avensan and Château Citran, on a single block on the Maucaillou plâteau. The inland situation naturally delays ripening, and so the 60% Cabernet Sauvignon means green pepper. There are 30ha of vines (plus 90ha of grounds).
Winemaking: Concreete and stainless steel vats.
Château de la Coste: A second label.
Margaux AOC, Château Paveil-de-Luze: 2014 Stéphane Derenoncourt consulted.
