LA ROSE DE PALENNE is an estate in the township (‘commune’) of Sainte-Colombe in the Castillon–Côtes de Bordeaux AOC on the right bank of the Bordeaux region. In late 2004 it was sold by its owner, Jean-Gabriel Yon (who at that time also owned another estate, Château la Croix-Simon in nearby Doulezon, on the other side of the Dordogne river in the Entre-Deux-Mers region). Bettes renamed it La Rose de Palénne.

Bettes had good memories of his grandfather’s wine exploits and trained in viticulture, and began consulting. Then he worked in Agro-pharmacie for 15 years. In 1994 he became interested in organic viticulture and began consulting to organic wineries in the Gironde. In 2004 he had the chance to buy what is now the La Rose de Palénne
