Carpineto, Montepulciano is an estate Chianciano Terme, Siena province, Tuscany owned by Carpineto. In the early 1980s it began producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. In 1997 Giovanni Carlo Sacchet and Antonio Mario Zaccheo (who already owned the Carpineto winery in Greve, Chianti Classico) took over an estate with 184 hectares (442 acres) of farmland in Chianciano Terme and Montepulciano. There are now 100 hectares (247 acres) of vines, in the Argiano sub-zone of Montepulciano, of which 84.5 hectares (207 acres) were planted at up to 8,630 vines per hectare (3,494 vines per acre), 15.9 hectares (39.3 acres) of which are for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and 4 hectares (9.9 acres) of which are for Rosso di Montepulciano DOC. Altitude is around 250 to 350 metres (800–1,150 feet) on sandy soil. There are also 12 hectares (29 acres) of olive groves planted to the classic Tuscan varieties of Frantoio, Moraiolo, Leccino and Pendolino that are used to produce the estate extra virgin olive oil.

On the estate there is also an old farmhouse complex, complete with vinification and aging cellars that date back to the 1700’s, in which the Vino Nobile wines are produced. Cellar capacity is approximately 3,700 hl (42,000 gallons) of wood cooperage, mostly oval Slavonian oak casks and small barrels, in addition to 14,500 hl (382,000 gallons) of temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. A new state-of-the-art winery with a ventilated wooden roof and an integrated 150kW solar panel system has been inaugurated just in time for the 2010 harvest.
