Campinuovi is an organic estate in Tuscany producing wines under the Montecucco DOC and Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG.

Owners: Daniele Rosellini (a disciple of Giulio Gambelli) and Nadia Riguccini founded Campinuovi in 2000 having inherited some de facto organic vines. Daniele had worked in Montalcino for Gianfranco Soldera at Case Basse and Stella di Campalto, then in Mercatale Valdarno at Fattoria Petrolo with the Sanjust family, and as an oenologist for the Chianti consorzio.

The name: The land  once formed part of the estate of the nearby Porrona Castle managed by the Abbey of Sant’Antimo in the Middle Ages. Land ownership was disputed over the centuries between the two most famous aristocratic families of Siena, the Piccolomini and Tolomei. During the 1950 land reform most of these lands were expropriated by the State and allocated to small farmers. Among them was an area called “Campi Nuovi” (New Fields) in the documents, precisely where our estate is located today. We have therefore decided to retain the same name to indicate that we have finally found the place to start our “new life”.

Vineyards: The estate lies 15km south of Montalcino, near Cinigiano. South and south-west facing hills. 350-465 metres above sea level. The altitude makes for crisp  Sangiovese its freshness. There are 23ha of land of which 7ha are vines: 85% Sangiovese, 15% Colorino, Pugnitello, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon for red and Ansonica for white). Rosellini and Riguccini replanted the existing vines from 2002-2006. In 2004 the grapes were sold off. 2005 was the first crush.

Biodynamics: The first BD preps were used in 2006. In 2012: 500P. No 501. Cover crops. No compost. No trimming.
