Bolsignano is an estate winery in the Montalcino region of Tuscany.

Owner: The Rubegni family: Roberto Rubegni who is a qualified oenologist. In 2012 the estate was split between Roberto who took 3.3ha of Bolsignano vines, and his younger sisters Elisabetta and Giulia who took 5.5ha for Il Bosco di Grazia (which see).

Vineyards: 2015 In May 2015 Roberto told me he had 3.5ha of 100% Sangiovese vines. The vines are on a high terrace (galestro-tufoso mainly he says) facing the Ombrone river (above Tavernelle, beneath Mocali), so on the western side of Montalcino’s four-sided pyramid, so gets warm marine breezes and higher temperatures in summer and winter. Roberto said he had two horses. He said he was not a member of the consorzio (still the case in 2020).

Other crops: 2015 3.3ha of olives and 4.5ha of arable crops (‘seminativo’).

Organic certification: 2014 First vintage with full organic certification for the entire estate.
