Barossa Valley is a region in South AustraliaBrian Croser told Jancis Robinson MW that Barossa Valley Shiraz is one of Australia’s two signature red wines, along with McLaren Vale Shiraz (Source: In the Press’, Harpers Wine & Spirit Weekly, 12 September 2003, p.17). Barossa is also renowned for its old vine Shiraz (Syrah) and Mataro (Mourvèdre). Vines were brought here in the mid-19th-century by German Lutheran settlers from what was then Silesia. Dry farming was practiced following the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it principle.
