AZIENDA VINICOLA ZENATO is a winery in the township (‘comune’) of Peschiera del Garda in the Veneto region of north-east Italy. It was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato, and has has the same family origins as Le Morette in Peschiera del Garda. Sergio was succeeded by his son Alberto Zenato. The third generation here is represented by Nadia.

VINEYARDS | 2017 100ha of vines in total. 70ha in Lugana, 30ha of Valpolicella. At Sant’Ambrogio on cretaceous chalky soil, south east facing, 225 metres.

RED WINES

AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO DOCG, SERGIO ZENATO | 2000 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 5% Molinara, 5% Sangiovese. Picked, grapes dried until January. Pressed, 21 days on skins, in tank for three months, aged in botti and barrique for 24-36 months. / 2010 17%. Artificially dried. Sweeter style, very moriesh with some dark/licorice at Collisioni 16th July 2017. / 2015 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella, 10% Croatina and Oseleta combined. 16.5%. 36 months in oak. A well honed Amarone in terms of the expression of its three major elements, fruit, tannin and new oak. Appealing oaky-raspberry flavours too (tasted blind for Decanter in London 17 Jan 2019).
