Argiano is a sub-zone in the southern part of Montepulciano (of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG fame) in Tuscany.

Soils: Pliocene soils, mainly sandy, rockier only in the higher part of the hill (300 metres), stony, with veins of clay, yellow clay with fine sand. Alkaline clay. pH 8.0. Salty soils, with high levels of sodium = low vigour (good for Sangiovese), small berries, high polyphenols.
