Alto Adige Pinot noir, red wine wine made from a minimum 85% Pinot Noir grown in Alto Adige (Südtirol) in northern Italy (see Alto Adige DOC)  where it has been grown since the mid-19th century. Pinot Noir can also be made as a Riserva. The grape is grown primarily in Bassa Atesina and Oltradige. It is said to perform best at elevations around 400 metres (1,300 feet) on chalky gravel sites that are not too dry.
