Alba is a city in Cuneo province in the Piedmont (Piemonte) region of north-wast Italy. It is the most important conurbation in the Langhe area, and is renowned for its white truffles and red wines. Alba lies midway between the towns of Barbaresco and Barolo, on the Tanaro river’s right bank. Its plain are surrounded by the vineyards of the Langhe and Roero territories. In 2010 Alba was given its own Alba DOC for Nebbiolo-Barbera blends covering Roero, Barolo, Barbaresco, and Dogliani. See Roero and Nebbiolo d’Alba.
