Alastair Maling MW is a member of the Institute of Masters of Wine. He is a New Zealander.

Education: Post-Graduate Diploma in Oenology and Viticulture at Lincoln University, New Zealand in 1994.

Career: Maling began his career at Esk Valley in Hawkes Bay. Then worked alongside Kym Milne MW (a previous Group Winemaker for Villa Maria) in the UK. Spent six years as winemaker with International Wine Services Ltd, UK, responsible for projects in Europe and South America. He also worked for Hugh Ryman Wines in France overseeing projects in France, California and South Africa. In 2002 he became Group Winemaker for Villa Maria Estate, replacing Michelle Richardson. He became an MW in 2000 (the sixth from New Zealand), winning the Villa Maria Award for Best Viticulture Paper.
