Ajaccio is a sea-port on the west coast of the French island of Corsica (La Corse) of which it is the capital. It has its own eponymous AOC. Ajaccio is served by links to France [Marseilles, Nice, Toulon] and Italy [Genoa]. Ajaccio is also a popular stop for Mediterranean cruise liners. Ajaccio’s two harbours are the Tino Rossi and the Port of the Admiralty. The city’s most famous son is Napoléon Bonaparte (1769-1821).
