VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO DOCG, TENUTA TREROSE, SANTA CATERINA | Andrea Lonardi told me on 28 Feb 2019 ‘from the Santa Caterina Hill. The soils have lacustrine origins (from a lake rather than from the sea), they are sediments of sand and clay. This gives a lighter style of wine which is perfumed, rich and ‘molto settoso’, meaning the tannins are ‘very silky’, and at the back rather than at the forefront of the wine. White cherry, with a slightly balsamic character, a touch of leafy character, but also spicy, peppery notes with a touch of liquorice (licorice in American English).
TENUTA TREROSE SELEZIONE SIMPOSIO | 2013 Fluid, light, smoothish, a little light but perfectly drinkable at the Anteprima 2018.
VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO DOCG RISERVA, TENUTA TREROSE, SIMPOSIO | From MPT clay-sands, says Andrea Lonardi, which he says gives a wine with spicey but silky tannins and menthol, not dissimilar to the red wines from parts of Saint-Emilion. / 2015 Debut vintage as a Riserva (see above for its previous incarnation).
