Terra Tangra is an estate in Bulgaria which claims to have produced the first Bulgarian wine certified organic to EU norms. Dr Caroline Gilby MW (Wine Report 2008, p.205) says Terra Tangra launched its first wines in 2006 from French clones planted in 2003.

Vineyards: 300-ha of privately owned vines. The vines are on the south-west slopes of the Sakar Mountain along the Maritsa River in the Thracian lowlands [Thracian Valley (Тракийска Низина)], not far from the Turkish border, within the area of the village of Balgarin. South facing. Dry, windy. Soils are pebbly in places, with decomposed granite. The basic grape varieties are as follows. Red: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and the local varieties Mavrud, Rubin and Melnik. White: Chardonnay, Traminer and Semillon.
