Murlo is a commune in the Val d’Arbia in the southwest of the Province of Siena in Tuscany, south of Siena itself and among the valleys of the Merse, Arbia and Ombrone rivers.

Murlo occupies a strategic position which dominates the surroundings (the bishop’s palace occupies the highest point). The terroir is a mix of woods, pinewood, cultivation and coastal areas.

Vineyards: Vineyards in part of the commune are also allowed the Val d’Arbia DOC (for white or pink wines only). Murlo contains one of the most important Etruscan archaeological areas, with buildings dating back to the 12th century BC. Genetic studies suggest the locals are direct descendants of the Etruscans.

Wineries: Campriano.
