Campofiorin, Rosso del Veronese: ‘The prototype for Amarone wines’, a ‘Super Venitian’ made by macerating the wine with the skins of Recioto Amarone after pressing (Hugh Johnson: Wine Companion: 1991, p.318). It was first made in 1964, using the technique of secondary fermentation using partially dried grapes. | 2010 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara.

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico, Vaio Armaron: Single vineyard. 200-265 metres. 13ha. 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Molinara (acidity). 2011 15.5%. 6g/l RS. Part aged in cherry wood (can promote oxidation) for the last 4 months (hence not long in cherry oak). Smooth savoury fruit with some green at the end at Collisioni 16th July 2017.

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico, Serego Alighieri Vaio Armaron: 2012 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Molinara. 15.5% alcohol. 5.3g/l residual sugar. 40 months in Slavonian oak. Rich aroma, baked fruit, raisins, herbs, dense and concentrated on the palate with a leafy green background to dark cherry leafy fruit (tasted blind for Decanter in London 17 Jan 2019).

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico, Campolongo di Torbe: 2011 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara. 16%. 36 months in Slavonian oak. Deep colour, opaque. Deep dark round wine, satisfying if slightly baked and one dimensional (tasted blind for Decanter in London 17 Jan 2019).
