Giovanni Chiappini is an organic wine producer in Bolgheri, Tuscany making Bolgheri DOC red and white wines. The estate is located in the heart of the DOC Bolgheri zone on the Via Bolgherese, the road where the most important wine estates of the Bolgheri region are located.

Owner: Giovanni Chiappini, son of farmers that had moved from the Le Marche region to the Bolgheri region in the 1950s. The first vines were planted in the late 1970s. Giovanni is now helped by daughters Martina and Lisa.

Vineyards: 23 hectares. Plots are as follows: Podere Le Grottine (planted 1978). Podere Guado De’ Gemoli (1983). Podere Fondi (1984). Podere Felciaino (1986). Podere Felciaino: 2001). Podere Ferruggini (2012). The main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and a small plot with Sangiovese and Vermentino.

Ferruggini, Bolgheri Rosso DOC: 50% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah. Vineyards: Felciaino 1986, Fondi 1984, Felciaino 2001. Clay with alluvial calcareous deposits. | 2003 Toscana Rosso. 100% Sangiovese. 13,000 bottles.

Guado de’ Gemoli, Bolgheri Superiore DOC: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. | 2000 Debut. | 2001 Toscana Rosso. Decent bit baked; sweet fruit and slightly aggressive acidity; also a bit burnt at the Bolgheri wine route office on Tues 22 Feb 2005. | 2002 Toscana Rosso. 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. 9,000 bottles.

Lienà Cabernet Franc: Toscana Rosso. 100% Cabernet Franc. Vineyards: Felciaino 1986, Felciaino 2001. Ferments in steel. 24 months in French oak barrels, 30% first use. | 2004 Debut.
