Gill Gordon Smith is a wine educator, retailer and artisan wine producer from McLaren Vale, South Australia. She is a VIA Italian Wine Ambassador, CEO at Fall from Grace, and specialises in Italian varieties including Arneis and Nero d’Avola. She has been awarded Wine communicators Australia 2017 Wine Communicator and Educator of the year. She has judged at many wine shows including panel chair of McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Review Hot 100.

Gill is the director of education for the Wine & Spirit School-Tafe SA running programs that include WSET, FWS and Australian wine programs with over 350 students a year. These come mainly from industry & wine programs at Adelaide University. The WSET program has a cohort of around 150 international students per year, mainly from China, studying wine business and winemaking in Adelaide. Gill has written for various publications including Italianicous magazine, Adelaide Review and is the wine writer for Fleurieu Living. She was an integral part of the award winning team who developed the Qantas Sommelier in the sky program and has travelled extensively over the last 25 years seeking out producers and regions that inspire.

Gill passed the IWE in November 2016. She is a McLaren Vale wine ambassador and is passionate about Italian varieties and their potential for Australia and McLaren Vale in particular. She believes strongly that education is the key to understanding and connection for both industry and consumers.
