GERMANY’S ORGANIC, BIODYNAMIC WINE PRODUCTION

In January 2018 Ecovin had 233 members cultivating around 2,356 hectares (5,819 acres) of organic vineyards, accounting for a quarter of all German organic vineyards. In March 2018 Demeter e.V. in Germany reported it certified 58 wineries.

In 1994 roughly 330 German estates cultivated 1,316 hectares (3,250 acres) of organic vineyards, which represented 1.2% of Germany’s total vineyard surface area (Source: Günther Schruft, 1995).
