Fattoria di Pietrafitta is an historic San Gimignano estate whose first wines in the modern era were made by the then owner, a countess, who helped develop what became the Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOC (later Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG). Here, Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG and DOCG Riserva whites are made. Other wines produces are these: Rosato di San Gimignano DOC, Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, Rosso di San Gimignano DOC and Vin Santo di San Gimignano DOC.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, Fattoria di Pietrafitta: 1974 Bright gold, ready, bit like old Bordeaux Semillon but with (even) less acid; creamy, some tartrates, mid-dry finish (Vernaccia Vintage 2005). | 1975 Lovely bright colour, very much alive, plenty of clean fruit and mineral, some honey and butter too, fino sherry nose which was not unpleasant (Vernaccia Vintage 2005. | 1987 Mid-deep gold, drying out (Vernaccia Vintage 2005). | 2012 80% machine picked, 20% hand. Competently made, ripe (Anteprima 2013).
