Fair Play AVA is an American Viticultural Area in El Dorado County in California, within the wider Sierra Foothills AVA. Fair Play is an isolated, hill-top sub-region located south of the El Dorado AVA vineyards. It has relatively fertile soil compared to other Sierra Foothills wine regions. This is balanced by the region’s extremely high elevation, the highest average in California, of between 610 to 914 metres (2,000 to 3,000 feet), providing a cool, windy climate. The main town is Placerville
